Charlotte from the MKFM News team went down to Funstation to see the brand new extension and have a go at some of the games, here is her review...
Over the weekend, I had the pleasure of visiting Funstation at Xscape to see its brand new extension and it's only gotten bigger and better!
I might be in my 20's but I am a kid at heart, I love playing video games and board games in my spare time, and there's nothing better than an arcade! I have been to Funstation quite a lot, me and my partner love to visit on a Saturday night as it is open until really late and it is always so busy - it is also perfect for a day out with my younger sister and family!
I was super excited to visit and see the brand new extension and new games and I can't stop raving about how great it is. As soon as you walk in there's a really exciting atmosphere and laughter. The variety of games available is nothing short of impressive either, whether you're a fan of classic arcade games or the latest tech, there's so many options.
One of my favourite games has always been the connect four basketball, we could spend hours playing it as we are both super competitive and I'm so happy that the game remains!
Of course, there's plenty of claw grabby machines filled with teddies, so many more than there ever has been! I have won on there a few times, however I wasn't successful this time.
The arcade is really accessible, with everything being on a 'funstation' card. There's nothing worse than coming across an arcade and having to take out cash to then turn into change, at Funstation all you need to do is go to the front desk and get a funstation card, you can then top it up with money straight from your debit card.
Having everything on a card also means you don't need to worry about remembering your tickets - these all automatically go onto your card, meaning that you can keep going back and building up your tickets!
The Mario Kart game was always super busy, which I'm not surprised about! Once we got on it, we had so much fun - its just like playing the game on your Nintento Wii or Switch - but in real life!
The arcade is well-maintained and really well looked after, it feels extremely clean and tidy and the staff are really friendly and helpful.
The selection of games catered to all ages, making it the perfect destination for families, friends, or even solo gamers. I particularly enjoyed having a go at the 'whack-a-mole' style game and the Space Invaders game, which brought back a wave of nostalgia while offering a fresh and modern twist.
The facility is well-lit, and the gaming areas are spacious, allowing for a comfortable and immersive gaming session. The combination of a diverse game selection, friendly staff, and a lively atmosphere made it an unforgettable experience.
Whether you're a casual gamer or a dedicated enthusiast, Funstation in Milton Keynes, I really recommend a visit!
