MKFM REVIEW: Christmas work lunch at The Italian Sul Lago

The MKFM team were invited to The Italian Sul Lago for their Christmas Lunch and it did not disappoint.

Parking at the Sul Lago is free and, they have a nice big car park! As soon you arrive, the scenery has you in awe, with the view of the beautiful lake.  You open the main door and are met with the prettiest entrance too.

Not many places in Milton Keynes have it all. Atmosphere, views, service and food but this is not the case for the Sul Lago!

For Starters, we had Pan Fried Scallops. These are served in a cauliflower puree, with pancetta, hone and salsa verde! The taste melted away in our mouths. To try a more traditional Italian dish, we also ordered the Bruschetta and the taste of the ripe vine tomatoes in their vegan pesto was divine. There was another option for a Buffalo Mozzarella Bruschetta which we will definitely be trying next time!

The starters came out promptly, and there was a nice amount of time between our mains. Being at an Italian, we all decided to go for Pastas – and they did not disappoint!

We all tried different ones. Charlotte started with the Tagliatelle Di Pollo, which was a mouth watering to the eye, and had a nice creamy sauces over the pasta. This was served with chicken and spinach & mushroom giving a nice visual of green against the creamy sauce.

I advised Lia to try the Paccehri & Salsiccia, which comes with a spicy sausage, with peppers, mushrooms, black olives, tomato and cream. The flavours from the sausage throughout the tomato sauce makes this dish enjoyable from start the finish.

The final past choice was a recommendation from the waitress on a traditional dish, the Carbonara and it surpassed any expectation I had of how tasty it would be. The flavour was so enriched with the guanciale flavours throughout the sauce! A traditional dish taken to the next level.

We were joined by Martin the owner for dessert,  and under strict instructions to try the special, “Toffee apple crumble”. If you are a crumble fan, you need to visit this restaurant to try this dessert! The apple is nicely basked under a crips crumble which has been infused with toffee caramel melted in from the heat. This is finished with one scoop of vanilla ice cream, and is by far the nicest dessert,  I have tried in a while! We also ordered their Brownie too and, it too was spot on!

Service and ambiance was lovely and busy for a Monday afternoon, and we enjoyed washing down the meals with some vanilla lattes overlooking the lake.

Recommendations as a great place to finish your year off with colleagues or friends & family.
