MKFM's monthly networking event, The Meet of MK, was hosted at Hotel La Tour last night (29/08) in central Milton Keynes, with a great turnout of guests.

The Meet of MK, sponsored by Facilities Management Solutions, gives guests the chance to network with like-minded businesses and organisations around the city every last Thursday of the month, hosted at different venues across the city, allowing guests to experience a variety of destinations in Milton Keynes.

This month’s End of Summer Party event was hosted by the prestigious Hotel La Tour in central Milton Keynes yesterday (August 29). The event had a great turnout, with all 180 tickets selling out.

Local MPs Emily Darlington and Chris Curtis attended the event, taking the opportunity to speak with the businesspeople of Milton Keynes.

Emily Darlington MP also made a speech saying, “I remember being in support of MKFM years ago because I believe it's important for there to be a local radio station that residents can tune into and rely on. And to see MKFM's growth and the impact it makes across the city is truly something.

"You can come to an event like The Meet of MK and find a community, organisation, or business to work with. You can find innovation spurred on just by a simple conversation over a glass of champagne. But it’s also because we celebrate diversity here in Milton Keynes.

"It doesn’t matter where you’ve come from, we are all pioneers here, we are here to build a community where everyone is recognised for who they are and recognised for who they can be.”

Jane Riley, Operations Director at Hotel La Tour spoke, giving guests an idea of what the hotel has to offer, including providing guests with their own tour around the building. She touched upon the growth and recognition the hotel has made in its 28 months of being open, stating this was only the beginning and that Hotel La Tour still has plenty of great things in store, that will leave a positive impact on the city.

The Meet of MK welcomed huge corporations like Redbull, Sky, Right Move, Santander, Centre MK, and several more, plus the Mayor of Milton Keynes, Marie Bradburn. The evening also celebrated Milton Keynes Pride Festival, which is launching next month. Keith Emmett, the Director of the MK Pride Festival spoke on the upcoming festival, happening on September 14, mentioning how the festival brings together communities, giving everyone a safe space to be themselves. This year will be MK Pride Festival’s 5th year anniversary.

Damien, Director of Culture at Santander, spoke on the importance of culture in the community and the beauty that comes with embracing all types of culture. He discussed how it is a platform that supports and benefits smaller businesses and entrepreneurs, whilst also making things easier on their customers, calling it “effortless professionalism”.

The event saw returning attendees and welcomed new faces of local businesses, charities, and organisations who were able to connect in a relaxed environment, followed by an evening with a selection of delectable food, courtesy of Hotel La Tour, for guests to try with live entertainment and fulfilled conversations.
