Carly and Jo from the MKFM team were invited along to Sumac Rooms in Xscape to preview their menu. Here is their review...
The experience
We had a lovely meal at the Sumac Rooms in Xscape. The decor is beautiful with really sumptuous bench seating and velvet cushions. We were welcomed with a cocktail, olives and breads which is always the best way to peruse a menu! Sumac Room make all of their breads freshly every morning. We began with the Hot Meze Starter which included calamari, sucuk, halloumi and Jo's favourite falafel. Their falafel is cooked to order and Jo could tell how fresh and moist it was. Nick suggested a flaming platter which we were really excited to try and it was so delicious! All of the meats were cooked perfectly my favourite is always lamb and their shish kebab was really good. They had a mixture of rice and grains which was different and made for a nice variety of textures.
This restaurant felt like a really exclusive place to be however their lunchtime menu offers are really reasonable so this is definitely somewhere that will come to mind in the future when looking for lunch options.

Among the magnificent colours and smells of The Spice Bazaar in Istanbul you’ll find a strikingly beautiful spice with a deep, rich burgundy colour. Sumac berries are dried and coarsely ground to produce a lemon-lime tartness which gives our traditional Turkish and Mediterranean recipes an exciting and unique lift.
