Milton Keynes youngsters included in this year’s Mayor’s Awards

Nominations for all categories open until February.

Milton Keynes Mayor Marie Bradburn used January’s Meet of MK networking event to speak about this year’s Mayor’s Awards.

More than 150 delegates packed into popular Dipna Anand restaurant in the city’s Unity Place this week to hear Councillor Bradburn describe her important awards, which are a celebration of incredible people and organisations who help to make MK such a vibrant and exciting city.

MKFM are this year supporting the Mayor’s Awards and will be publishing the list of categories to which people and groups can be nominated. Entry forms are also available there.

This year the Mayor is expanding the categories to include young people from school years 7 to 13. Winners will be invited to the Civic Offices in February to celebrate their achievements.

“On the night of the Awards we will be raising funds for my chosen charity, SMK Gateway, who have been creating opportunities, delivering excellence and changing lives since 2007,” said Councillor Bradburn.

“The night will be filled with activities and above all fun, as we celebrate some of our unsung heroes in our city, so it is not to be missed.”

Nominations for the awards will be accepted via the MKFM website up until the deadline of midnight, 23rd February.

The bike-loving Mayor, who is well-known for being seen about the city riding a cycle, also used the MOMK event to announce a Festival Week of Cycling in March. She has championed a year of cycling in Milton Keynes to encouraged fitness while cutting emissions and roads congestion.

“Details of this will be announced soon so we would love more businesses to get involved with MK Council’s ‘Love To Ride Week’ App,” she said.

The popular MKFM networking event drew a wide range of guests from across the business, retail and hospitality spectrums and included presentations from New Wave Events, Lion Estates, Collaborate MK, The Stables Theatre and Toast Brewery.
