Mk Gallery launches Amplify, a new three-month arts project running from April to July 2022 for young people aged 16-25 who have something to say about the world we are living in.
Young people’s voices are more important than ever in initiating change. Through a variety of creative workshops, they will have the opportunity to explore how to communicate their concerns about current social and political issues through art, poetry and text, to best influence and foster change.
The project is inspired by the Gallery’s current exhibition, Ingrid Pollard: Carbon Slowly Turning in which Pollard uses photography as a social practice to question Britishness, race, sexuality and identity. Amplify will use the exhibition to initiate conversations. Workshops include zine making, automatic writing, text and image and performance with artists including Dylan Fox, De’Anne Crooks, Lesley Asare and Zoe Thompson from Sweet-thang zine.
