MKFM Review: Tuk Tuk Thai Milton Keynes

Carly & Jo from the MKFM team were invited down to Tuk Tuk Thai in Fenny Stratford to enjoy a team lunch, here is their review...

    The experience

Wow this is a taste sensation tucked away in Fenny Stratford! The menu is jam packed with tasty dishes so we let Gaim do the choosing for us. He chose the Tuk Tuk Mixed Sharer, a sharing platter of the best street food starters and tasty Thai dips. The crispy rice noodles were to die for and literally tasted like popcorn! This was a really filling platter, Jo and I both love getting stuck in to sharing food so this was the perfect way for us to start a meal.

Next Crispy Aromatic Duck arrived at the table, served with cucumber, leek, pancakes and hoisin sauce. This was different to what I'm used to as the duck was cooked in a batter again we loved getting stuck in making the pancakes. At this point we were wishing we had listened to Gaim who had told us to go easy on the starters, the mains arrived and we were blown away by the variety but also wondering how we were going to squeeze it all in!

Gaim presented us with a dish that is yet to hit the menu yet but wanted our opinions on it. It was Choo Chee Sea Bass, thick panang curry sauce with beer battered sea bass. Now I can't repeat the words that came out of Jo's mouth but she was blown away! Jo could taste the lemongrass which she loved and the sea bass in breadcrumbs was beautiful! We both said that we wouldn’t ordinarily order sea bass however we both picked this as our favourite dish.

We also had the Lamb Shank Massamun, Lamb shank cooked in massamun curry, with coconut milk, onions and potatoes. Lamb is always my go to and favourite meat and the combination with the coconut milk was just delicious. Served with Pineapple Fried Rice, with massive shrimps and chicken it made for a really filling dish which my Fiance was really pleased to see I brought home leftovers of!

Jo had mentioned to Gaim that when she had visited previously she had the most delicious soup, Tom kha, hot and sour soup with coconut milk. This soup, which has a taste similar to Tom yum cooks in a coconut milk with mushrooms and cherry tomatoes with a more distinct taste of galangal, coriander and lime leaves to mellow the flavours. It was just as tasty as Jo remembered.

To finish our meal we had Mango Sticky Rice, very famous Thai dessert, sweet sticky rice mixed with coconut milk, served with mango. This actually brought tears to Jo's eyes as the taste took her back to her Nanny's rice pudding.

We loved our lunch at Tuk Tuk Thai, spread over a couple of hours we got to chat, dip into food and get a real taste of fresh authentic Thai food here in Milton Keynes, what a treat! If you can get along to Tuk Tuk Thai you wont be disappointed!

    Welcome to Tuk Tuk Thai

Thai food is fragrant, sweet, sour, spicy and everything in between.

Traditionally Thai food is not eaten with chop sticks but with a spoon and fork, they like it hot "pedped" style, but you can choose your style! Forget individual starters and mains... Order a spread of dishes for the whole table to share & enjoy. A balanced meal would put crunchy next to smooth, light next to rich, mild next to spicy. Don't worry we will navigate you through the Thai tendencies so that you feel like you've just stopped over in the land of smiles.
