Irish Jo goes to panto (oh yes she does) alongside her daughter Laila and best friend Louie and here is their review...
There was a serious excitement in my household as the date for going to Jack and the Beanstalk at Milton Keynes Theatre was drawing near and we were not disappointed!
From the moment we arrived the excitement mixed with giggles and a beautiful pianist playing Christmas songs in the theatre we knew we were in for a magical treat. The atmosphere was so special and it reminded us there is no better time of year to attend a Panto!
Jack and the Beanstalk, with an urban twist from Ashley Banjo & Diversity being Jack’s super cool brothers provided the most intense dance routines that had my daughters’ eyes beaming and locked to the choreography. The rude innuendos had every adult in tears of laughter too with my daughter Laila asking me on more than one occasion to explain the joke!
The night is hosted by Pete Firman (“Simon Trot” is his Panto name) and he really had the audience captivated every time his presence came to stage. From interacting with the audience, to some very fun antics that he closes the show with (I will let him surprise you), you will enjoy him every time he walks out to greet you. Don’t forget to shout “Hi Simon” each time he appears too! Pete’s mix of comedy and magic had everyone glued to his every movement - when you were expecting him to say something silly or make a mistake with his magic, he would blow your mind and literally make items disappear leaving a gasped audience.
Other amazing parts were played by Gina Murray who played “Mother Nature”, Laura Evans who played “Princess Jill” and my second favourite to Simon, Daniel Boys, who played the baddy of the show, “Fleshcreep”.
If you find Mrs Browns Boys a funny show, I cannot explain to you how funny you will find Jack Land Noble, who played “Dame Trot”. The mother of Jack and his siblings, the wearer of the most ridiculous dresses and the one liner queen from the night!
The chemistry between everyone in the show made the experience so much more electric.
One for the Christmas list, you won’t be disappointed.
Jack and the Beanstalk is at Milton Keynes Theatre until Saturday 8th January. Book your tickets here.
