MKFM asked our followers on Facebook whether they thought Clap for Carers should return, as talks of a potential third national 'lockdown' are circulating.
The nationwide Clap for Carers, first introduced back in March, was a highlight of many people's weeks during the first lockdown.
Others believed that the event was becoming too "politicised", and that it should be more inclusive for other professions.
And last night, very few people thought the return of a Clap for Carers event would be appropriate at this time, according to a survey on MKFM's Facebook page.
There were over 180 comments with an overwhelming response predominantly saying "no, thank you". Instead, repeated comments included "give the NHS a pay rise", "wear your mask" and "clap for other workers".
Many people felt it was time to thank "everyone" who has been working throughout the crisis, especially key workers, lorry drivers, delivery drivers, refuse collectors and all those working in hospitality and all shop workers.
Several NHS workers also expressed their experience of how the clap for carers apparently turned into a competition in their neighbourhood to see who could be the loudest.
There was a common theme from NHS workers saying whilst they appreciated the thought, they would rather people wore a mask and followed the rules especially #Space (social distancing) and #Face (mask up correctly).
Only a handful of people thought bringing clap for carers back was a good idea and others suggested perhaps clapping for children who have been through a tough year would be an idea and also perhaps a clap as a form of remembrance, one day.
What do you think? Should Clap for Carers return? Have your say on MKFM's Facebook page.
