Carly could not wait to return to Milton Keynes Theatre last night (21/10) to see the highly-anticipated An Officer and a Gentleman the musical and here is her full review...
The experience
I went along to Milton Keynes Theatre last night with my Auntie. She remembers the film well whereas I don't recall seeing the movie so was unsure what to expect especially as this was the musical version.
The show opens to a group of new recruits joining the Navy with an eclectic bunch from very different backgrounds all determined to succeed.
Hits like Girls just wanna have fun, Living on a prayer, Material girl were belted out and had the audience dancing in their seats!
The new recruits made it through to the sounds of John Farnham's The Voice which I’ve only recently been introduced to. It sounded amazing and lead into the poignant music from the film Love lifts us up where we belong and the scene everyone was waiting for.
This show served as a timely reminder that we all suffer loss, have difficult family situations and life isn’t always straightforward.
A love story full of ambition mixed with an electric playlist!
