MKFM Review: Taco Tuesday at Blossom Room

Jodie from the MKFM team made a visit to Blossom Room at The Hub in Milton Keynes to experience their new bottomless Taco Tuesday, here is her full review...

Since becoming an addition to The Hub Milton Keynes back in 2019, Blossom Room has continued to make an impressive presence and positive name for itself.

Blossom Room is a beautiful Japanese‑inspired, high‑end bar offering a breath‑taking opulence and sophistication that you won't find anywhere else in Milton Keynes. It is one of the most picturesque and 'instagrammable' locations we have in this city, with ceilings full of pretty cherry blossoms and bird cages, walls covered in hand-painted murals, and, stylish furniture throughout.

Blossom Room has shot up in popularity, especially since the pandemic days ended, they have been providing endless top-quality service throughout the days with Japanese-style dishes, bottomless brunches and live music Sundays, and, giving locals a great place to party on the weekends with live DJs and events on Friday and Saturday nights.

Recently, Blossom Room has introduced 'Taco Tuesday' to the mix, from 4pm to 9pm every Tuesday you can enjoy unlimited cod, tofu, chicken, and steak tacos.

It was an absolute pleasure being invited down to Blossom Room to experience their Taco Tuesday having heard so many positive things about it.

I am always in awe when visiting Blossom Room because it's such an appealing venue, and the staff is absolutely wonderful and makes you feel very welcome. It's not long after getting cosy you are asked which tacos you would like for your first round, time to get stuck in.

Being a huge fan of seafood I instantly chose cod tacos to try first, it wasn't long at all before two cod tacos were presented on a stone plate with a dabble of what tasted like a spicy mayo sauce. It looked and smelt fantastic.

The taco itself is so easy to grasp and bite into, they are not like hard taco shells which I was so relieved about as I personally find them rather difficult to eat. You get an array of flavours that mix beautifully, the sweet taste of cod that to me doesn't actually have a strong fishy taste, a crunchy salad sensation, hints of spring onions, and, a slight creamy kick from the sauce.

On the plate are a couple of limes, I squeezed them on top of the taco fillings which added a lovely refreshing and lightly sour taste to them. I'm not being biased because fish is a love of mine, but the cod tacos were genuinely my favourite.

I tried tofu tacos next, I have never tried tofu before so I was very intrigued and excited to get stuck in. All of the tacos are filled mostly with the same fillings apart from the main attribute, the tofu tacos came out packed with the perfect amount of salad with no overflow, sprinkled with lots of flavoursome herbs and spicy sauce and they of course included the tofu itself, in little cubes.

I have heard that tofu tastes pretty bland and they were pretty spot on as the tofu didn't have much of a taste, the sensation of it made me feel like I was actually eating chicken but I enjoyed it nonetheless as everything combined gave it lots of flavour. It was all nice and hot and I liked the crunchy outsides of the tofu and the soft chew on the inside, I also enjoyed it because I know they are full of protein and fibre alongside other healthy added benefits.

Chicken tacos were up next, at this point, I was really struggling to fit in anything else so it was a hard decision between the chicken and the steak, the steak tacos looked delicious, but I am a big chicken fan so they won for me.

The chicken was chewy tender and hot, mixed with the creamy spicy mayo-like sauce and all of the salad, it tasted amazing. The chicken also had the perfect amount of grease and it was also nice and sweet, add a bit of lime to the top and it's an absolute win. If only I had more belly space, I could have easily eaten more chicken and cod tacos.

Throughout it all we had the lovely staff checking in and making sure everything was okay, the last time they checked In I admitted defeat and decided that I couldn't eat anymore. It was a fantastic experience, it was really busy and I could clearly see everyone else's enjoyment and satisfaction with Blossom Rooms Taco Tuesday.

It's such a great way to have a nice chilled dinner doing something different in a beautiful setting, it's also such a decent price as Taco Tuesday is only £14.95 per person!
