Milton Keynes Dons have completed the signing of midfielder Kane Thompson-Sommers from National League side Halifax Town for an undisclosed fee.
The 23-year-old central midfielder becomes the Dons' 13th signing of the summer transfer window, and just the second since new chairman Fahad al Ghamin took charge earlier this month.
Beginning his career with Tottenham Hotspur's academy, Thompson-Sommers turned out for Birmingham City's Under-18s in the FA Youth Cup before making his professional debut with Woking FC in the 2021-22 National League season.
He moved to Hereford for the 2022-23 season, making 33 appearances in the National League North, contributing two goals, before featuring for Halifax last season - scoring once and providing two assists from the centre of midfield in 31 total appearances for the club.
The London native joins the likes of Liam Kelly, Alex Gilbey and Tom Carroll in the heart of midfield and will bring valuable competition for places as the team looks to secure promotion back into League One after narrowly missing out last season.
Speaking of joining the Dons and what he will bring to the club, Thompson-Sommers commented: "I think of myself as a box-to-box midfielder, someone who prides himself on doing both. I like to tackle, I like to get forward, play creative passes, shoot, an all-action type of midfielder I'd say!"
"It's always been a massive aim for me since I left Birmingham City as a kid, I've always wanted to get back into the EFL, so this move is a dream come true really and I'm just so excited!"
He concluded: "I've had good conversations with the people involved at Milton Keynes and they helped convince me that it would be the right place for me to come and kick on, I've known since the start this was the right next step for me to take in my career."
Head coach Mike Williamson said of his new signing: "He brings a real physical presence, he brings a willingness to run, but he can handle the ball and carry it really well. He's a good age, we think he has a really high ceiling and he's ready to come in and impact the starting lineup."
