Milton Keynes Dons manager Russell Martin hopes to agree a new deal with midfielder Josh McEachran, revealing he is 'in the building' at the club.

The 28-year-old former England Under-21 international initially joined the Dons on a short-term deal back in March, having previously trained with the club for fitness after being released by Championship club Birmingham City.

McEachran arrived at Stadium MK with over 200 career appearances with clubs in the Premier League, Championship and the Eredivisie, bringing with him a wealth of experience at a very high level.

He featured in 14 League One matches for the Dons, providing quality and consistency in the centre of midfield.

The Dons boss had revealed that a new deal was on the table for the former Chelsea youth product, but news of his future had remained dormant for some time until the topic was broached at this morning's press conference.

The club's hope of having McEachran back looks stronger than before, with Martin commenting: "Josh McEachran is in the building, he's with us. Unfortunately for Josh he's had a bout of COVID, so he's just getting fit again."

"We're constantly in talks with Josh about what the future holds and what's going to happen and hopefully that's another one that we can get resolved fairly quickly once he gets back up to a good level of fitness."
