Midfielder Ethan Robson has today made his expected return to Milton Keynes Dons.

Robson was a popular figure at Stadium MK during his loan spell last season, and many were shocked when parent club Blackpool opted to recall him early in the January transfer window.

Despite the Tangerines' purported injury crisis, the 25-year-old made just two appearances for the rest of the season, with many questioning why he had not been allowed to remain with the Dons - where he was a regular starter.

In the first half of the 2021/22 League One season, Robson featured in 23 games in all competitions, scoring once and providing another, giving the Dons a bit of bite in the midfield while playing the role of facilitator for maestros Matt O'Riley and Scott Twine.

Unsurprisingly, Robson was a noteworthy name when Blackpool released their retained list at the end of the season, with many feeling he would be one of the first targets for Liams Sweeting and Manning, who were both spotted speaking to him during the Dons' end of season awards.

Now, Robson has returned to the club on a free transfer, seeing him become a permanent fixture for a Dons midfield that currently only has Wales international Matt Smith penned in.

He becomes the club's second signing of what is expected to be a busy summer transfer window, following in the footsteps of forward Matt Dennis from Norwich last week.
