Tradespeople in Milton Keynes offered free training to learn green skills

Local tradespeople are being encouraged to take up free training with a new programme funded by Milton Keynes Council.

The Council is working with the National Energy Foundation to create training for local tradespeople and business in Milton Keynes.

    The programme will involve:

    • Training for up to 25 local tradespeople on how to gain TrustMark accreditation for the install of eco-friendly equipment. This will include insulation, double glazing and new heating systems
    • Online training for businesses looking to make the first step in developing an environmental policy, with an exercise for all-staff.
    • Certification for up to ten people to give advice on the best way to make homes more energy efficient

£60,000 will be invested by Milton Keynes Council into the programme, with funding coming from the £500,000 Green Business Recovery Fund.

MK Council says the programme aims to help local businesses improve their green offer to local residents and create more sustainable jobs.

To get involved or find out more, local tradespeople can contact: greenbusiness@nef.org.uk

Earlier this year, MK Council used £70,000 from the Green Business Recovery Fund to offer similar training to help businesses 'become greener'.
