Milton Keynes has seen more than 5,000 new homes built in the last three years, as the city continues to exceed its annual housebuilding targets.
Milton Keynes exceeded the Government’s Housing Delivery Test new homes target of 4,866 for 2017-2020 by almost 500, delivering 5,342 in total, which of 1,149 were affordable homes.
In the year 2019/20 alone, and despite the challenges presented by the pandemic, more than 2,000 new homes have been built across MK.
Milton Keynes Council has set out its most ambitious and greenest council house building plan for a generation, with plans to deliver 1,200 council homes by 2030. These new council homes will be some of Milton Keynes’ most accessible and environmentally friendly homes.
Cllr Pete Marland, Leader of Milton Keynes Council, said: “The number of homes being built in MK is a testament to our future growth plans for the city.
"While the numbers we are delivering are good, we want to see far more genuinely affordable homes and council homes built to ensure there are a range of homes that everyone can afford, and we will continue to push for that in the future.”
