MK Council is investing almost £1m to improve public spaces, including play areas and cycling routes in the Lakes Estate as part of the city’s biggest and greenest regeneration proposals.
The Council is starting improvements for the area, which include creating new vibrant community courtyards, public green spaces and better children’s play areas. Other improvements include new cycling routes to connect the Lakes Estate to central Bletchley.
The Council will work with the local community to develop designs for the new public spaces ahead of new environmentally friendly homes being built for Serpentine Court residents.
Cabinet Member for Public Realm and Council Housing, Cllr Emily Darlington said: “These improvements are delivering on the regeneration proposals that residents voted for. We know just how important access to green spaces and play areas can be in improving people’s quality of life.
“I look forward to working with the community to deliver on these exciting plans.”
Planning consent was granted for the major regeneration project in October 2020, which will see some of the country’s most environmentally friendly homes built at the Lakes Estate. Plans include over 500 new homes, including the biggest build of new council homes since the Development Corporation.
