Vital repairs and maintenance have begun in the city centre ahead of the large influx of shoppers expected within the next few months.
It has been announced that Milton Keynes Council will be carrying out various highway and parking maintenance to fix faulty street lights, repair any damaged signs, repair potholes, refresh parking bay lines, and clean the drains.
Work began on Wednesday (24/2) with refreshing the parking bay lines and markings in the Council-owned car parks. This includes repainting the designated red premium and purple standard bay lines, directional arrows, Give Way markings, and parking bay lines.
Pothole repairs will be carried out in early March on sections of grid roads H5, H6, V6, V7 and V8 that cross the city centre area and Midsummer Boulevard, Silbury Boulevard, and Avebury Boulevard.
Councillor Emily Darlington, Cabinet Member for Public Realm, said: “It’s vital as part of our recovery process that our city centre is open and ready for business as we emerge from lockdown.
“We’re making use of the quieter areas now to coordinate these works so our budget can go further.
“I’m delighted that we’ve been able to use this available budget to carry out these works which will make a huge difference to the CMK area.”
