Basketball fans are in for a thrilling Saturday as both the Milton Keynes Breakers Women’s and Men’s teams hit the court at Bletchley Leisure Centre.
The action kicks off with the Women’s team taking on Cardiff Met Archers at 1:15pm as they continue their push for promotion in their inaugural season. Later in the evening, excitement builds as Jordan Spencer makes his much-anticipated home return when the Breakers Men face off against Hemel Storm at 5pm in a highly anticipated match up.
The Breakers Women will be looking to build on their momentum after securing a hard-fought 75-71 victory over Cardiff Met Archers last weekend in Wales. With promotion in sight, the team remains focused on closing the gap on league leaders Bromsgrove Bears, who sit just two points ahead, having played one more game than the Breakers.
The race for promotion is set to go down to the wire, with the Milton Keynes Breakers and Bromsgrove Bears facing a decisive showdown in the penultimate game of the season – with only the winner securing promotion. A victory on Saturday would keep the Breakers in prime position heading into what promises to be a thrilling promotion run in.
The Men’s Team will be looking to maintain their winning run that stretches back five games, in a run that has seen them overcome Reading Rockets and Loughborough Riders in recent weeks. Their tough run of fixtures doesn’t show any sign of slowing down either, as top of the table Hemel Storm are the visitors to Bletchley Leisure Centre this Saturday.
The Storm and Breakers have enjoyed a healthy rivalry since the Breakers inception a few seasons ago, with the Hemel based outfit currently getting the better of the Breakers. Saturday’s clash will be the fourth time the two sides have met this season, with the Storm running out winners on two occasions.
Matt Ellis leads the scoring charts for the Storm with an impressive 20.1 Points per Game, with Sam Newman displaying his creative qualities, he tops the league for average assists with 8.7 per game. Darien Nelson-Henry is also enjoying a strong season, he’s averaging 8.8 rebounds per game and has an efficiency score of 350.
For the Breakers, KJ Johnson (19.1), Adrian Scarborough (18.1) and Nate Robinson (16.8) have been the top performers in terms of points. Jordan Spencer’s arrival has seen him average 16 points per game, with Chris Tawiah contributing a steady 10.3 points per game.
