Milton Keynes Breakers will return to National Cup action this weekend as they travel to Essex Sports Arena to face Essex Rebels in the Fifth Round of the National Cup – Tip Off is scheduled for 4pm.
Essex currently sit one place above MK Breakers in the NBL Division 1 Table having picked up three wins from their opening seven games. The Breakers, meanwhile, have won two games in one fewer outing. The Rebels have picked up impressive wins over Worthing Thunder, City of Birmingham Rockets and Nottingham Hoods so far in the league.
The Rebels reached the Fifth Round of the competition after picking up a 108-78 win over Essex Charge, meanwhile, MK Breakers ran out 103-68 winners over Endeavour Ipswich Basketball. The two sides have already met once this season as Adrian Scarborough’s 27 points and 19 rebounds saw the Breakers win 83-62.
It’s been a theme of the season for Scarborough as he places second in NBL 1 for average rebounds, a list that the Rebels’ Emmanuel Kanwei also features on with an impressive 9.9. Luke Busumbru has proved to be s creative spark for the Essex based outfit as he’s averaging 5.4 assists per game, with Connor Nelson topping the division with 3.5 Steals per Game.
Despite the win earlier in the season, it’ll no doubt me another tough test for Billy Beddow’s side as they look to retain their National Cup crown. Tickets are available HERE.
