Charlotte from the MKFM team was super excited to return to MK Theatre last night to see Bugsy Malone and here is her review...
The world-famous musical Bugsy Malone is at Milton Keynes Theatre this week!
I was so excited to see the first ever touring production of Bugsy Malone, it really reminded me of being at school and putting on theatre productions and singing the songs.
The show stars a crew of thirty nine actors, including three teams of seven kids.
If you're not sure of the story, it is set in the Prohibition era in New York. A city full of mobsters, showgirls and dreamers. The show includes rival gangster bosses Fat Sam and Dandy Dan, lots of custard pies and the fight to get hands on a "splurge" gun. Bugsy Malone and a penniless one-time boxer somehow fall into the gangster limelight but all Bugsy wants is to spend time with his new love.
The team of young kids are incredibly talented, I was so amazed by their confidence and skills at such young ages!
Not only were they able to make the audience laugh out loud, but had us clapping and dancing with every single song. I had never heard cheers like it!
The best thing about the show is you can tell the entire cast is just having so much fun. Despite their ages, they really shine a light on young talent and get the storyline across amazingly.
At the end of the show, the audience was treated to a 'dance off' which only expanded on the young actors talents, they were incredible.
If you get the chance to see Bugsy Malone, do! Bugsy Malone will fill you with laughter, joy and have you dancing in your seats.
It is definitely not one to miss!
