Yellow weather warning as Storm Bella set to hit Milton Keynes with possible transport disruption

The Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning for wind as Storm Bella is set to hit Milton Keynes this afternoon and overnight.

A warning is in place from 3pm today until midday tomorrow.

Very windy weather is expected for parts of England, Wales and the far south of Scotland, leading to disruption to transport and utilities.

Wind speeds in Milton Keynes are set to peak at 53mph at around midnight tonight.

Officials say that road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible.

Some roads and bridges may close as well as the possibility that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage.

Some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs, could also happen.

It comes as four flood warnings also remain in place across the city for Boxing Day.

The Environment Agency have issued the warnings covering the River Great Ouse in Newport Pagnell, Stony Stratford, Ravenstone, Wolverton and Cosgrove in Milton Keynes.
