Yellow warning issued for strong winds and possible snow across Milton Keynes tomorrow

The Met Office says whilst most areas will see spells of rain there is a small chance of this turning to snow on Saturday morning leading to some disruption.

The yellow weather warning is in place from 00:00 on Saturday 27th until 18:00.

Snow is predicted to fall from around 7am tomorrow morning and The Met Office says "gusts of wind seem likely to reach 50 to 60 mph widely".

Travellers should be prepared as there may be some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport and a small chance that some roads and bridges could close.

There is also a slight chance of some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs from the wind and powercuts are also likely.

The Met Office issues the following warnings before snow or ice:

    • If you have to make a journey when snow is forecast, make sure you have warm clothes, food, water, boots, a torch and spade, and let someone know when you expect to arrive and your route. Try to wait until the roads have been gritted before travelling

    • Put grit or cat litter on paths and driveways to lessen the risk of slipping on compacted snow

    • Check on vulnerable neighbours
