Yamaha Scholarship winner makes MK debut performance

Clarinettist Piotr Dec will perform the Weber Concerto No.2 with Milton Keynes City Orchestra at The Venue MK on Friday 15th June 7.30pm.

The performance comes just three months after winning the 2018 Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Scholarship in Manchester. MKCO Music Director Damian Iorio assisted with the selection at the auditions and chose the beautiful concerto to be played.

The concert, sponsored by Keens Shay Keens Accountants, Yamaha and MK Council, will open with Mozart’s Symphony No. 35 and close with Haydn Symphony No.104 the last of Haydn’s twelve London Symphonies. Two symphonies in one concert is a rare treat for MK concert goers and a fitting end to a glorious 2017-2018 Concert season.

Piotr Dec is currently studying modern clarinet with Mark van de Viel and Angela Malsbury as a scholar of Master of Music program at the Royal Academy of Music (RAM) in London. In 2017, Piotr has completed Bachelor of Music (Hons) at the Royal College of Music in London (RCM), where he studied modern clarinet with Janet Hilton and Barnaby Robson, as well as classical clarinet with Prof.Colin Lawson CBE and Dr. Ingrid Pearson, generously supported by the Worshipful Company of Musicians and Concordia Foundation.

Most recently he made his professional debut playing solo in the Royal Albert Hall, Elgar Room. He recorded works of Errollyn Wallen for the BBC Radio 3 and he has appeared playing solo at the London Contemporary Music Festival, London Summer Exhibition in Royal Academy of Arts and also featured playing solo on a recording for Chinese Berita Global television (BGT).

Marian Livingstone, Chairman of MKCO says;” It is simply wonderful to have the fresh talent of Piotr Dec performing in Milton Keynes with our Orchestra. We have a meaningful partnership with Yamaha to bring their scholarship winners to MK each year and showcase fine musicians as they step out into their international careers.”

This concert will be the finale of MKCO’s current season but tickets will shortly be released on 1st June for MK Proms in MK Theatre on 9th September. Details of the fantastic new season will be released at the end of June.

Tickets for Friday 15th June are £10. £25 with a £5 ticket available for under 18’s and card carrying students available through www.mkco.org.
