Woburn Safari Park re-opens after government change Tier 4 rules

Woburn Safari Park near Milton Keynes has re-opened after the government changed the Tier 4 rules for outdoor zoos and safari parks.

The Safari Park was forced to close its doors when Milton Keynes and Bedfordshire entered Tier 4 earlier this month, but re-opened to the public on Sunday 27 December.

Only the 'Road Safari' is open at present and customers are being advised that they can't get out of their car or open their car windows for safety reasons.

Posting on Twitter, the safari park said: "Updated government guidelines now state those living in Tier 4 can travel within their tier (staying in your household / bubble) for the purpose of exercise and visit some public outdoor places, including safari parks."

Meanwhile, nearby Whipsnade Zoo have said they will announce a re-opening date "soon" following the change in Tier 4 regulations.

As with Woburn, Whipsnade closed their doors as soon as Tier 4 restrictions were implemented.

A Whipsnade Zoo spokesperson said: "We are delighted that new government guidance issued, allows us to reopen our Zoos in Tier 4. We will be announcing our reopening date next week."
