Residents of Fairfields and Whitehouse are being encouraged to visit a new website that celebrates the area’s cultural past, present and future.
The new site, which can be found here is the first project to be delivered within a Public Art Plan for Fairfields and Whitehouse, which sets out the potential opportunities for public art projects in the area.
The website is intended to be a place where ideas can be shared with local people. It features articles, activities and information – and over time will signpost opportunities where residents can get involved, contribute, and engage with artists.
Cllr Robin Bradburn, Deputy Leader of MK Council and Cabinet Member with responsibility for Culture said: “Milton Keynes has always placed public art at the heart of its design and new communities – this project continues in that tradition. I hope local people find the new website a useful tool to explore where they live and engage in the exciting art and cultural projects planned for the area.”
The website and public art projects are being delivered through a partnership between Milton Keynes Council, Whitehouse Community Council, Fairfields Parish Council, The Parks Trust and Whitehouse Primary School. The projects are entirely funded through financial contributions for public art made by nearby housebuilders and developers.
Dallas-Pierce-Quintero (DPQ), the architecture, art and place-shaping studio that developed the Public Art Plan for Fairfields and Whitehouse said: “We hope the Public Art Plan will act as an aspirational blueprint for future artwork commissions and inspire the community and artists to do something great.”
