A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms across Milton Keynes will be coming into effect from 6pm this evening (16/6).
It will last all the way through until 9am on Saturday (19/6).
The Met Office has issued the warning, which will cover most of the country, following the lengthy spell of warm weather.
High amounts of rain may fall in a short time which could cause localised flooding as road drains reach their full capacity to cope with the surface water.
The Met Office explains: "There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds."
Highways officers from Milton Keynes Council along with their service provider, Ringway, will be checking for any localised flooding and if needed, will close any roads that are unsafe for vehicles
