Weapon amnesties to take place in Milton Keynes allowing people to voluntarily dispose of knives

People will be able to legally dispose of weapons this weekend in Milton Keynes.

Thames Valley Police will be holding two weapon amnesties this Saturday (29 April).

An amnesty bin will be located at Heelands Community Centre between 10am and 12:30 pm and a second will be located at Bradville Wylie Building between 2pm and 4pm.

A knife amnesty bin allows people who own knives or weapons to voluntarily dispose of them in a safe and legal way.

The aims of the operation, which is taking place across Thames Valley, are to remove dangerous weapons from the streets, reduce knife crime and raise awareness of the dangers and consequences of carrying a knife.

"No questions asked, we just want to take these weapons off our streets", police say.

"We’ll also be there to chat about the work we’ve been doing and about any concerns you have."
