Volunteer drivers needed in Milton Keynes

Could you be a hospital volunteer driver?

Local people who have their own car and can regularly spare at least three hours a week, are being asked to consider becoming volunteer drivers for Milton Keynes University Hospital (MKUH).

Volunteer drivers provide a vital service, taking patients to and from their hospital outpatient appointments and delivering medication or equipment to patients who have been discharged.  They can choose the days and times that are convenient to them, and most journeys will be in Milton Keynes and surrounding areas.

“It’s a really rewarding role for someone with a friendly and compassionate personality," says Sarah Woodfield, Voluntary Services Manager at MKUH. "Our current volunteers enjoy the variety of people they meet while they give their valuable time to the hospital.”

Volunteer drivers need to hold a current, full driving licence. Their cars need to have five doors and a current MOT certificate. Insurers will need to be informed but there is normally no change to the insurance premium.
