Hundreds of shop-owners, hotel and restaurant bosses, caterers and leisure business leaders have attended one of the biggest vending machine shows in the UK, in Milton Keynes.
Vendex, a one day exhibition for the vending industry, opened its doors today to welcome interested customers eager to see an array of machinery, ingredients, products, goods and services.
Stands included displays of popcorn, tea, coffee, crisps, snacks, sweets, chocolates, even rice – all of it able to be sold from a machine. The vending industry is worth £1.5 billion a year with vending now seen as an extension of the retail sector, underlying the importance of the exhibition.
“We are helping people to do business here in a cost effective way,” said Matt Derry, the new owner of the Vendex events. “It’s a one stop shop for the vending business, a place to buy machines, find the products that go in them and learn more about buying and leasing.
There are two Vendex expos each year, in Milton Keynes and Doncaster, and Matt is happy with the Arena MK as his ‘Midlands’ venue.
“Arena MK is the right size for the show,” he said. “Access here is fantastic, parking is low cost and it’s in Milton Keynes – and who doesn’t like Milton Keynes?
We'll buy that...
