Milton Keynes City Council intends to make an order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, closing up to eight roads in the city.
The proposed Order will come into operation on 13th June 2024 and will continue in force for a maximum period of 3 months or until the said works have been completed.
Vehicles will be temporarily prohibited from proceeding along the following part of road to allow Openreach to carry out pole replacement works.
No person shall cause or permit any vehicle to enter, wait in or proceed along the following length of road on 13th June 2024 from 08:30am to 3:30pm; Claremont Avenue, Stony Stratford – from its junction with Augustus Road to its junction with Number 6 Claremont Avenue.
Whilst the closure is in place the alternative route will be via Claremont Avenue, Goran Avenue, Milford Avenue, Calverton Road and Augustus Road. Access to properties will be maintained when it is safe to do so. There will be no exemptions from the provisions of the proposed order except for emergency services vehicles on operational duties.
The closures will be clearly signed in accordance with Chapter 8 of the TSRGD 2016 (The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016). All affected properties will be notified of the forthcoming closures at least one week prior to the works taking place.
The five closures, beginning June 13th will affect the following;
- The A5, from 8pm to 5am June 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes). The A5 both directions, Brickhill to Old Stratford Roundabout - mobile works for horticulture cutting and planting on behalf of National Highways.
- A5, from 8pm June 13 to 6am June 15, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A5 both directions, Flying Fox Roundabout to Kellys Kitchen Roundabout carriageway closures, lane closures and diversion routes for drainage on behalf of National Highways.
- A5, from 8pm June 17 to 6am June 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A5 northbound, Kellys Kitchen Roundabout to Caldecotte, junction - carriageway closure, lane closure and diversion route for electrical works on behalf of National Highways.
- A5, from 9pm June 18 to 6am June 19, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A5 southbound, Bletcham Way - exit slip road closure, lane closure and diversion route for structure - maintenance on behalf of National Highways.
- A5, from 8pm June 19 to 6am June 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A5 both directions, Redmoor roundabout - lane closures for survey works on behalf of ESP Electricity.
If the works are not completed within the maximum period stated, a further order may be made. Any person committing a breach of the order will be liable upon prosecution to such fine as is prescribed by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
