A section of the M1 is set to be closed between Milton Keynes and Northampton next weekend.
The southbound carriageway on the M1 is set to be closed to traffic between J15 and J14 from the evening of Friday, March 4th until the morning of Monday, March 7th.
The closures set to be in place from 21:00 on Friday until around 06:00 on Monday, this could change dependent on completion of the work.
Drivers are being warned to plan ahead when travelling next weekend ahead of the closures.
National Highways say that the closure will allow teams to carry out essential work including installing bridge joints at Cattle Creep emergency turn around and reconfiguring the carriageway on the slip roads.
National Highways Programme Manager, Lynne Stinson said: “Safety is always our top priority, and this is a significant piece of work which means we have to close the road to keep our teams and motorists safe.
“We’d encourage drivers to familiarise themselves with the diversion route before setting off and to leave additional time for their journeys. We’d also remind them to follow the signposts for the diversion and to avoid using sat-navs to help keep traffic flowing.
“It’s also important to ensure that people check their vehicle before setting off on their journeys.
“Simple things like checking fuel and oil levels, tyre pressures and that all lights are working properly, can keep everyone moving and the network flowing.”
