Toys“R”Us returns to Milton Keynes

City becomes latest location for US toy giant.

Popular toy and games store Toys“R”Us is coming back to Milton Keynes after an absence of six years.

The American giant went bust in 2018 and its stores, including a large showroom in the city’s Grafton Gate area, were shut down. But the games outlet has returned as a ‘shop-in-shop’ in scores of WHSmith sites across the UK.

The stationery empire says it will celebrate bringing Toys“R”Us to Milton Keynes with a grand opening at its centre:MK store on Saturday 30th November from 9am to 1pm.

Mascot Geoffrey the Giraffe will be joining the WHSmith team for an official ribbon cutting when the shop opens, before greeting visitors throughout the morning. The first 50 children visiting the store will receive a free Toys“R”Us goody bag worth more than £15.

The new shop-in-shop will feature top toy brands including Barbie, Bluey, Hot Wheels, LEGO, Marvel, Paw Patrol, Peppa Pig, Squishmallows and Star Wars.

Children will be able to access the latest products and play hands-on with their favourite toys at demonstration tables. A life-size Geoffrey the Giraffe sculpture will also feature in the shop for photo opportunities.

Milton Keynes is one of 37 WHSmith High Street stores set to open a new shop-in-shop from Toys“R”Us before Christmas.

“We’re really excited to be opening Toys“R”Us in Milton Keynes,” said Ian Sanders, WHSmith Group Commercial Development Director. “Partnering with Toys“R”Us gives us a leading toys and games range in our stores and means customers have even more reasons to shop with us. We look forward to welcoming many more customers into our store.”
