The Toys R Us website is up and running and just in time for Christmas, but what does it mean for the former unit in Milton Keynes?
This time last year, the much-loved toy shop teased it would be making a comeback across the UK.
Toys R Us closed the doors to its huge Milton Keynes store when the company collapsed back in 2018. The closures led to 3,000 people across the country losing their jobs.
Back in October 2021, WHP Global, the companies owner, announced it had signed an agreement with Toys R Us Australia which would mean online sales would make a comeback.
Now, the Toys R Us website has officially relaunched, allowing shoppers to browse and buy from the store online, just in time for Christmas shopping.
The website says: "We're back! We can't wait to develop and grow with you and your loved ones, over the coming weeks, months and years!"
Currently, there have been no plans confirmed for physical stores.
Speaking prior to the website launch, Toys ‘R’ Us Australia chief executive Louis Mittoni said: “I’m very excited to welcome over 100 years of retailing experience in our new team, who will lead the relaunch our iconic brand back into the UK market in the next few months.
“We have an amazing toy and baby buying team, which I believe is the best in the country.”
Back in April, residents spotted a large 'To Let' sign above the former site in Milton Keynes.
The 47,500sq foot unit was described as being "immediately available".
