A local grassroots football club that has been struggling financially during the pandemic has received help from none other than Tom Cruise.
Woburn & Wavendon Football Club, one of the oldest football clubs in the area, is completely volunteer-run and relies on events, such as their summer boys & girls football tournaments, to keep the club alive and kicking.
The club has lost tens of thousands of pounds due to restrictions caused by COVID-19, and they have since launched a crowdfunding campaign aiming to raise £12,000 by the start of June.
It is expected that this target will be reached, especially since a Hollywood A-lister has decided to show his support by signing some of the club's shirts that have been put up for grabs.
This has all been made possible because Woburn & Wavendon Football Club were kicked off their training ground at Heath and Reach this week to make way for production crews to film Mission Impossible 7, starring Tom Cruise.
Although the sudden change of plan caused disruption, the club soon found out that the Mission Impossible team were not slow at making things “possible”.
A spokesperson for Woburn & Wavendon Football Club explained: "We were able to find temporary alternative playing locations to use whilst filming was taking place (paid for by a donation to the local Parish Council by MI7), and to make things even better, the Club was able to get a number of Club shirts signed by Tom Cruise himself."
These signed shirts, which are in shiny black frames, will be featured on the club's crowdfunding site.
