It has been today (18/3) announced that The Hazeley Academy on Emperor Drive will be partially closed from tomorrow (19/3) until Easter.
The secondary school is the latest school in the area to partially close due to the lack of staff available to teach.
A statement posted by the Principal reads: "It is therefore my responsibility to implement a partial closure of the school to students in Years 8, 9, 10 and 12 with effect from Thursday 19th March 2020 until Easter. This decision will be reviewed regularly. I must make it clear that this partial closure is for logistical reasons and is a decision that has not been taken lightly. We have had no advice from Public Health England that we should close for medical reasons.
"If you are a parent of a student in another year group, then please check the school website each morning in the same way you check for school closure on a snow day. The reason for this is because we may have to amend decisions overnight, or early in the morning, should the student/staff ratio be significantly affected.
"If there is no update on the website, then please assume the school remains open to students in Years 7, 11 and 13. We are attempting to keep school open for our younger students and those preparing for exams. Please do contact us if childcare is a significant issue for you and we will do all that we can to support."
Students are now being advised to work online.
