The Co-Op has seen the amount of customers using Starship deliveries more than double since lockdown started in March.
The convenience retailer became the first to trial same-day autonomous robot deliveries in the UK when it teamed-up with Starship Technologies in April 2018 to offer the emission free online home delivery service.
The service has now been made available in eight Co-op stores, with six new stores added since March due to extreme demand. This unusual delivery service, with Milton Keynes being the only town to offer it in the UK, has since been described as a "lifeline" for vulnerable residents and people in isolation.
Starship deliveries are available in various areas throughout Milton Keynes, with deliveries being available from the following Co-Op stores:
• Monkston Park (MK10 9PN)
• Emerson Valley (MK4 2SH)
• Bodmin Place (MK10 7DP)
• Great Linford (MK14 5HA)
• Dunthorne Way, Grange Farm (MK8 0LW)
• Newton Road, Bletchley (MK3 5BS)
As part of Starship Technologies' expansion, two new Co-Op stores will be added to the service area later on this month. Residents will soon be able to order from stores in New Bradwell and Wordsworth Avenue (Newport Pagnell).
Last week, it was announced that Milton Keynes has the world's largest fleet of autonomous robots. Read more here.
