16-year-old Ben Watts will be setting off on his 50 mile run this evening, which will see him run for 24 hours.
He is set to take part in the challenge in memory of his late grandfather Philip, who died of prostate cancer in 2016, whilst also raising funds for Prostate Cancer UK.
"I've completed a fair few runs in the past," Ben said, "But have never completed anything of this scale. Running from 7pm on 29th October to 7pm on 30th October, it will be a tough challenge, battling tiredness and pushing my endurance to the max. My fitness and stamina will be also be put to the test, but will still not compare to what my grandad went through."
Ben initially set himself the target of raising £1,000 for charity, which he beat and then upped to £2,000. And the donations have kept rolling in which means that Ben has already raised over £2,180 (as of 15:30) for Prostate Cancer UK before even setting out.
109 supporters have donated to the teenager's challenge so far, with one of these being his father Paul who says he will be doubling the donation come tomorrow 7pm when the challenge is complete.
These 50 miles will see Ben run around Monkston via the redway network from 7pm this evening.
