Teams raise over £37,000 for local charities at successful 2022 Milton Keynes Dragon Boat Festival

The 2022 Dragon Boat Festival at Willen Lake has been hailed as a huge 'success' with huge amounts raised for charity.

On Saturday 24th September, the 19th Milton Keynes Dragon Boat Festival took place at Willen Lake.

44 teams took to the 200m race course, watched by several thousand spectators, to raise money for local charities while competing for the crown.

As well as the exciting races, a wide range of food stalls and fun activities were on offer for friends and families, making the competition a great day out for all.

This year, the festival was supported by MKFM, Business MK, Pulse Magazine and MK Charities.

The Milton Keynes Dragon Boat Festival is mainly aimed at corporate groups who are looking for a great team building day out whilst supporting and raising money for a charity of their choice.

Dragon boat racing is an ancient Chinese tradition and the fastest growing water activity in Britain today - as well as being extremely fun.

The Philosophical Dragons (PhDs), from the Open University, took home the top prizes with a score of 72.60. The team were crowned first in the Mixed Crew Champions and Champions.

The Jason and The Argonauts team were named Community Champions after raising over £2,200 for local charity Harry’s Rainbow.
