Staff at Milton Keynes University Hospital can now exchange food items in the hospital's staff hub.
Located in the staff-only area of the hospital, staff can now donate any unwanted packaged or canned food items that are not wanted or needed.
These items can then be taken home by another member of staff.
It comes as the cost-of-living crisis hits households across the UK.
We know that some of our staff are really struggling & that rising prices are a real concern. From today you can give and take food from our food swap in the Staff Hub. If you want to talk to someone for support please email chaplaincy@mkuh.nhs.uk @MKHospital 💚 #TeamMKUH pic.twitter.com/2K5XRQOxbX

The scheme has received praise from people across the country.
One person responded on Twitter saying: "What a tremendous idea and after a tough day at work colleagues don’t have to worry about running around shopping home square meal for them (& their families) feet up before doing it all over again hats off for a genius idea & thank you to NHS staff"
Another wrote: "What a lovely idea this is. For many, this will be a lifeline."
MKFM earlier reported a rise in the number of MK people getting support from food banks.
So far in 2022, MK Food Bank has supported over 5,000 people with emergency food parcels.
