Milton Keynes Council will deliver another FREE programme of activities and food for children and young people this summer, providing a welcome boost to struggling local families.
It follows the success of last year’s Summer of Play which included more than 30,000 fully funded activity sessions and saw 28,000 free meals served to families throughout August.
Summer of Play 2022 will take place between 1st and 25th August 2022 with a wide range of sports, crafts, cookery and music and activities for children of all ages, from toddlers to teens.
The full programme will be available to all families living in MK and published on the council’s website in July.
During easter, the council ran a week of activities to help families with children in receipt of benefit-related free school meals and more than 1,000 individual children and young people got involved in egg hunts, day trips, music, crafts, and team sports.
Cllr Zoe Nolan, Cabinet Member for Children and Families, said: “Our Summer of Play is back this year and will be even bigger with a wider range of free activities plus meals for young people.
"We recognise that it’s a tough time for everyone which is why we have increased local funding to ensure all children and young people will be able to access this provision. The response from local organisations, from sports clubs to schools and charities, has been incredible with 66 applying to run events.”
The full programme of activities is expected to be available in early July. In the meantime, you can find out more by visiting the council’s website here.
