Strong winds leave number of roads blocked over the weekend in Milton Keynes

The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning on Saturday (30/10), for expected strong winds across Milton Keynes.

The Met Office predicted "A squally rainband will run quickly across the area, accompanied by strong wind gusts in some locations. A few places could see gusts to above 60 mph, which would lead to some damage to trees.

"Additionally 10 to 20 mm of rain could fall within an hour, the combination causing temporarily very difficult travel conditions."

Over the weekend, many residents took to social media to point out fallen trees blocking major Milton Keynes roads.

The Parks Trust also issued a warning to walkers saying "Please avoid areas of Ouse Valley Park near Haversham where a significant number of branches have come down and certain paths may be inaccessible.

"There are also issues in other areas of the parks including Great Linford Manor Park and Floodplain Forest. Our team will be on site tomorrow morning to deal with any fallen trees or branches."

Thames Valley Police headed out to help some of the villages in the north of Milton Keynes.

They had assistance from some local farmers and members of the public.

Ringway MK have also been working on removing the trees from roads yesterday.

Trains to Milton Keynes were also hugely interrupted due to the winds, reports say a tree fell onto the tracks leading to many trains to and from Milton Keynes being cancelled.
