After a yellow weather warning from the Met Office last night, snow finally begins to fall upon Milton Keynes this morning (24/01).
Although it wasn’t quite in time for the festive season, lots of locals are pleased to finally have some snow in the area.
Some were surprised, local Mike Atkins posted on Twitter: “Can’t remember the last time I saw this much snow in Milton Keynes!”
Many more took to social media to share their own pictures of the picturesque scenes the weather outside snow has created, as shown below:
Due to the icy conditions, Thames Valley Police has advised to only travel if absolutely necessary and are currently dealing with multiple collisions along the M4, M40 and A34.
Although travel warnings have been issued, the council’s gritting team posted an update on their efforts to keep roads open to drivers, as they said: “Our gritting team have been out overnight in MK. We are expecting some accumulation of snowfall today with potential heavy snow fall around 9am & snow showers then forecast until around 9pm. Our gritters are reloaded & ready to go again.”
