Two MK mums plan to paint the City red with 150 single people this Valentine’s Day.
Having become disillusioned with online dating, two single parents Samantha Poole and Rachel Allen decided to create a new way for singles to meet.
Solo Connects first launched in November, and now Sam and Rachel have welcomed over 200 single people from across Milton Keynes in their first three events.
With the most romantic day of the year looming, Sam and Rachel want to create a brilliant experience for single people and are hosting a Valentine’s Day RED party at The Cock Hotel in Stony Stratford on 14th February.
“We know that Valentine’s Day can be miserable when you’re single. Friends and colleagues are showered with gifts and cards and are taken out for fancy dinners while you’re left scrolling social media (or worse, the dreaded dating apps) while everyone else has a good time,” said Sam.
“That’s why we wanted to create a brilliant experience for single people and turn the day into something positive. We’ll turn the City RED with 150 single people celebrating at our Valentine’s Day party, complete with a DJ, dance floor, and fun games designed to get the singles mingling,” added Rachel.
Solo Connects has already seen three blossoming relationships in the first two events, with a further four potential love matches underway from their event in January.
Having experienced all the horrors of online dating themselves, Sam and Rachel wanted to bring back a bit of old fashioned dating by getting people together for nights in a pub, a casual dinner or fun events designed to get people out of their comfort zones. Their Solo Connects UK Facebook group now hosts 770 members from Milton Keynes and surrounding areas and is growing daily.
