Red Bull Racing have today announced that Sergio Pérez will continue to drive for the team in 2025 and 2026.

The 34-year-old Mexican will extend his tenure with the Milton Keynes team for a fifth and sixth year, having originally joined the reigning Constructors Champions ahead of the 2021 season.

Since arriving in Milton Keynes, Pérez has racked up 887 points in 74 races with the team, playing a crucial role as the team's second driver behind three-time World Champion Max Verstappen.

Pérez has claimed five of his six career race wins since joining Red Bull from BWT Racing Point (now Aston Martin), with wins in Azerbaijan (2021, 2023), Monaco (2022), Singapore (2022) and Saudi Arabia (2023).

In the standings, he finished 3rd in 2022 and a career-high 2nd in 2023, playing an important role in Red Bull's back-to-back Constructors' Championships.

This weekends Canadian Grand Prix will be Pérez's 75th race with Red Bull, with him able to eclipse 100 races with the team by the end of the 2025 season.

Pérez's position in the team has come under question at points throughout his tenure, with dips in performances leading many to wonder if the team could perform even better with someone else in the second seat.

However, his performances overall have helped the team enjoy a period of success and the stability he brings behind the scenes will undoubtedly have helped his case to remain for another year.

Signing a two-year deal allows Red Bull to assess the driver's market after the 2026 season, one in which new regulations could have a serious impact on teams and their performance.

Having stability in the first year of the new regulations will have been a serious consideration when looking at planning for the future.

While his form has dipped, much like it did in 2023, his early performances were strong and the team must feel confident that they will get the very best version of him long enough to keep the team competitive.

CEO and Team Principal, Christian Horner commented: "Now is an important time to confirm our line-up for 2025 and we are very pleased to continue working together with Checo."

"Continuity and stability are important for the Team and both Checo and Max are a successful and robust partnership, securing our first ever one-two finish for the Team in the Championship last year."

He added: "Checo has had a strong start to 2024 with second places in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Japan and then his podium in China."

"The past few races have been tough, there is convergence on the grid, but we are confident in Checo and look forward to his return to proven form and performance, that we so often see."

He concluded: "Last year was a unicorn season and we will need to work hard to retain our titles, but we are assured in our line up and with the Team as a whole, which is imperative in what is shaping up to be a close fought Championship this year."

Commenting on signing his new deal, Pérez said: "I am really happy to commit my future to this great Team, it is a challenge like no other racing for Oracle Red Bull Racing, both on track and off track."

"I am delighted to be staying here to continue our journey together and contribute to this Team’s great history for two more years."

He continued: "Being part of the Team is an immense challenge, and one I love. We have a great challenge this year and I have full trust in the whole Team that the future is bright here and I am excited to be part of it."

"I want to thank everyone for all the trust they are putting in me, it is a lot and I want to pay it back with excellent results on track, and off track."

He concluded: "I think we have a lot of work to do, we have a lot more Championships to win together."
