More pupils than ever will be moving to secondary school in Milton Keynes in September 2017 after a record number of applications were received.
Almost 3,400 applications were made to the council, with 96.8% gaining one of their top four preference schools.
Councillor Zoe Nolan, Cabinet Member for Children and Families said: “We have a rapidly growing population in Milton Keynes with more children and young people than ever attending our schools. We are committed to offering a good school place for every child close to where they live. I am pleased to see that once again the council’s sound school place planning system has meant that no child will go without a school place in MK.”
Of the applications received, 84.7% of pupils received their first preference school. 7.4% of pupils received their second preference, 2.9% received their third preference school and 2% were allocated their fourth preference school.
A small number of late applications were received; these will be processed during April. Parents who still need to make an application should complete a late application form which is available on the council’s website at www.milton-keynes.gov.uk/schooladmissions.
