Rumours circulate that Odeon Milton Keynes could close during the week and only open on weekends

Rumours are circulating that Odeon is reportedly scaling back its operations and will be temporarily reducing opening hours, meaning that some cinemas could close during the week.

Film Stories claims that, over the weekend, Odeon wrote to some Limitless card holders to say that certain cinemas would only be open from Friday to Sunday.

This has not been officially confirmed but there is no doubt that the cinema chain is struggling financially during the current climate.

Its competitors Cineworld today (5/10) announced that they will be temporarily closing all UK and US cinemas, including the one in Milton Keynes, from this Thursday.

This is because of the major financial strain the coronavirus pandemic has put on the industry with much-anticipated releases being pushed back.

And people are now questioning whether Odeon will take a similar approach.

Film Stories claims that the email sent to customers reads: "In light of the ongoing delays to the release of many new films, from 9 October we will be temporarily reducing the opening hours of ODEON (Name Of Venue), and will now be open from Friday-Sunday."

The alleged email adds that “we look forward to reopening full time when the big blockbusters return, but in the meantime, we promise to bring you a great choice of big-screen films to enjoy at the weekends”.

Alleged Odeon employees have since come forward claiming that customers found out the news before the staff did.

Currently, this is just speculation until officially confirmed by Odeon, so it is not yet known whether the Milton Keynes cinema (if any) will be affected.
