The Parks Trust has teamed up with Milton Keynes Council to help clean MK's grid roads as part of the 'Golden Grid' programme.

A spokesperson for The Parks Trust said: "We have been working in partnership with Milton Keynes Council on their ‘Golden Grid’ programme to improve Milton Keynes' roads. Our team have been working on the H5 to remove trees & shrubs which were encroaching the carriageway and blocking road signs which has opened sight lines."

‘Golden Grids’ is a long-term programme created by MK Council in a bid to improve the look and feel of the network.

Sections of both the H5 Portway and H8 Standing Way have been receiving intensive repairs and maintenance which will continue over the next few weeks.

Councillor Lauren Townsend, Cabinet Member for Public Realm said: "I’m delighted that our huge grid road improvement programme is starting this month on two of our busiest roads.

"Coordinating all these services into one large programme is a complex task but it means we can get so much more done under one road closure to minimise disruption, saving both time and money.

"We’ll carry on each year with other grid roads to give them a major makeover whilst doing ongoing maintenance like weed spraying and sweeping on the others to keep them looking good."

All works are listed on one.network.
