Red Bull Racing experienced a difficult qualifying session in Bahrain as Max Verstappen will start P7 with Yuki Tsunoda P10.
Q1 was a tense affair for Red Bull's drivers, after both Verstappen and Tsunoda only registered one qualifying lap each.
Both drivers went off track and had times deleted for track limits, with Verstappen aborting his lap and returning to the pit while Tsunoda finished his lap and had his time deleted later.
They were lucky and both put in decent times on their one timed laps in Q1, with Verstappen going through in P3 and Tsunoda getting through in P14.
The drivers were both on timed laps when Haas' Esteban Ocon crashed into the barriers, bringing out a red flag. After the resumption, Verstappen aborted another lap for further setup changes, meaning he and his teammate once again only managed one flying lap.
The Red Bull pair narrowly progressed into Q3, with Verstappen in P9 and Tsunoda squeaking through in P10 by 0.017s above Alpine's Jack Doohan.
To give themselves a better opportunity, Tsunoda and Verstappen were the first cars on track for Q3, going out on used soft tyres.
Verstappen complained about difficulties with his brakes throughout the weekend and suffered his worst qualifying of the season so far, only managing to reach the fourth row of the grid.
Tsunoda, meanwhile, will feel more positive than the four-time World Champion after he reached Q3 for the first time with Red Bull, showing that the team made the right decision to bring him up from Racing Bulls.
The challenge will now be for both drivers to compete in the Grand Prix tomorrow and bring home valuable points to the team. Verstappen lines up behind title rival Lando Norris (McLaren), with just one point separating the two, so a strong start could be vital to the Dutchman's fight tomorrow.
For Tsunoda, simply finishing in the points will be viewed as a positive by the team, as he continues to demonstrate progress in the second car.
