‘Prolific offender’ sentenced for string of thefts from motor vehicles in Milton Keynes

    A Milton Keynes woman has been sentenced for a string of theft from motor vehicles, vehicle interference and fraud by false representation.

    Following an investigation from Thames Valley Police ICR team, a woman has been sentenced for a string of theft from motor vehicles, vehicle interference and fraud by false representation that happened in the Milton Keynes area this year.

    Leigh Ashwell, aged 34, of Wolverton, Milton Keynes, was sentenced at Milton Keynes Magistrates on 20th December 2022, after she pleaded guilty to all charges.

    Leigh Ashwell was arrested on 27th November 2022, she was charged and remanded in custody until today, where she was sentenced to a total of 6 months imprisonment, suspended for 18 months.

    PC Da Silva Melo from ICR team 5 of Milton Keynes police station, said: "Leigh Ashwell was a prolific offender who targeted vehicles in the Milton Keynes area causing members of the public great financial loss and stress.

    ”Leigh Ashwell made efforts to evade the police for several weeks until an eagle eye member of the public assisted in her arrest. I would like to thank everyone that has supported Thames Valley Police with report of sightings and especially to the member of the public who had a vital role in her apprehension and made it possible for Leigh Ashwell to be presented in front of the Magistrates court today."
     
    “The investigation was an effort between all ICR teams in Milton Keynes, and we hope that this sentence can act as a strong reminder that theft from motor vehicle, vehicle interference and fraud by false representation will not be tolerated. We will continue to work with the members of the public to benefit the communities we proudly serve,” TVP said.
